Practicing kindness is a conscious choice we make and a way of living to strive for, so that all may thrive.
I started writing Be Kinder, a newsletter offshoot of my book, Walk in My Shoes, as a way of further tipping my readers toward empathy and compassion. It was meant as a means for sharing my thoughts on empathy and for introducing others’ stories that would illuminate kindness as a strength and a necessity for individual survival and happiness.
If we acknowledge and act on the notion that empathy and compassion are superpowers, we will deepen our consciousness about equality and equity and will follow through with inclusive actions. We will listen to and respect one another more, not only to lift up family and neighbors, but also to support and celebrate those who are different from us in race, color, language, and sexual orientation. Using these superpowers, we will also recycle waste, drive eco-friendly cars, grow food, and manufacture goods using non-polluting methodologies—choices that will add up to cleaner air and a healthier planet in which our children will have greater opportunities.
Bottom line, the purpose of Be Kinder is to show that you can be resourceful and become happier as you take care of yourself and others, knowing that as you do, all will benefit and improve our Mother Earth.
Be Kinder is meant to remind us that practicing kindness is a conscious choice we make and a way of living to strive for, so that all may thrive.
